Nodaya Teahouse

150-year-old tea shop and café

Welcome to Kanazawa’s Nodaya Teahouse, where a rich history inspires modern tea innovators. The shop was established in 1859 by third-generation Maeda clan members, a branch of one of the most powerful samurai families in long-ago Japan. Tea here is roasted through traditional methods where sand is collected from local rivers and heated to bring water to a boil. The store is loved by locals for its soft-serve ice cream, extensive variety of Japanese sweets, and classically made tea dominated by full, roasted flavors.
